Shadow Rows is an interactive mechanic that allows you to expand the default 5x3 reel area before any spin in the base game. This is done by removing one or both shadows from the reels with one or two clicks. Your options include:
- 5x3 (10 paylines)
- 5x4 (15 paylines)
- 5x5 (20 paylines)
Naturally, expanding rows will cost you more. It’s a 50% bet increase for 5x4 and double your bet for 5x5. For instance, I mostly played 5x5 with a $1 bet per spin. Since this meant doubling my bet, playing the 5x5, 20 paylines option cost me $2 a game. This might not seem like a lot at first, but the Book of Shadows slot Canada version volatility level is extreme. If you land the Golden symbol during the bonus round, it will expand to cover the reels, boosting the chances of some sweet wins. You can also retrigger the free spins feature during the bonus round by landing 3 Scatter symbols on a single spin.
Additionally, there is a Nolimit Bonus option. This lets you buy your way directly into the Book of Shadows Free Spins bonus round. Although I didn’t do this (because it’s not how I personally like to enjoy slots), some players prefer it because it can take over 100 spins to naturally trigger the feature in the game. If you choose the Nolimit Bonus option, you have three choices. You can buy 3 rows for 60x the bet, 4 rows for 90x the bet, or 5 rows for 120x the bet (e.g., $1 bet - 5 rows will cost $120). If you decide to use the Nolimit Bonus buy option, do so with caution. Buying your way in doesn’t mean you’ll win more or win back what you spent to access the bonus round.
Gamble Features
Like other games offered by this software provider, the Nolimit City Book of Shadows slot has a gamble feature. This feature activates after any winning spin in the base game. You’re given the option to keep what you’ve won, or you can risk it in one of two ways:
The 50/50 gamble option - predict whether you think the card that will be shown is red or black. If you guess right, your winnings are doubled, and you have the choice to play again or collect your cash. If you’re wrong, you lose your winnings.
