Roulette sectors bets add a whole new dimension to the game of Roulette, offering the opportunity to bet on a selection of numbers with just a single action. Often referred to as Roulette sections bets, Roulette call bets, announced bets, exotic bets or just plain special bets, these unique bets are exclusive to European and French Roulette games. If you already know how to play Roulette and want to delve a bit deeper into the game, section bets might just be for you. Ready to learn a bit more about these mysterious bets? Let’s go!

What Are Roulette Sectors?

Roulette sectors (or Roulette sections) are specific areas of the Roulette wheel that make it easier to bet on a collection of numbers at once without having to place bets on them all individually. These sectors are usually found in European and French variants of the game, which is why their names are mostly in French.

Not all games offer Roulette sections bets, but if they are available, you’ll usually find them under Racetrack or Neighbours Bets. Clicking on the option will reveal a racetrack of all the numbers on the wheel, plus demarcated sections representing the various bets. To bet on one, simply place your chips there.

In other games, the Roulette call bets are listed menu style, such as in the above image of European Roulette Pro, where the bets are listed under Special Bets.

Note: In this post, I’m just going to cover what these Roulette sections bets are, how they work and how to place them. Don’t forget to check out the Roulette payouts for details of how much you can expect to get back if you win.

Voisins du Zéro

Multifire Roulette game highlighting the voisins du zéro bet

Literally translating as ‘neighbours of zero’, the voisins du zéro bet covers 17 numbers surrounding the green zero on the Roulette wheel. Like many Roulette special bets, most bets involved here are split bets, which is why you only need nine chips to cover all 17 numbers. Here are the numbers covered and the types of bets involved in a voisins du zéro bet:

Numbers Bet type Chips needed
0, 2, 3 Basket
4, 7 Split
12, 15 Split
18, 21 Split
19, 22 Split
25, 26 28, 29 Corner
32, 35 Split

Jeu Zéro

Meaning ‘zero game’, the jeu zéro bet is a smaller version of voisins du zéro, involving just seven numbers. Click the Zero section of the racetrack to place this section bet, with only a single chip needed for each bet involved:

Numbers Bet type
0, 3 Split
12, 15 Split
26 Straight up
32, 35 Split

Tiers du Cylindre

French Roulette Pro VIP game highlighting the tiers du cylindre bet within the Special Bets menu

Translating as ‘thirds of the wheel’, the tiers du cylindre bet is similar to the voisins du zéro bet, but on the opposite side of the wheel. Click the tiers du cylindre section on the racetrack or in the Special Bets list to place this bet. It covers 12 numbers (about a third of the wheel, hence the name), with one chip placed on each of the six split bets:

Numbers Bet type
5, 8 Split
10, 11 Split
13, 16 Split
23, 24 Split
27, 30 Split
33, 36 Split

Orphelins

French Roulette game with an orphelins bet placed

Known as ‘orphans’, the orphelins bet covers the remaining eight numbers that aren’t included in the above Roulette announced bets. These numbers fall between the tiers du cylindre and voisins du zéro bets, four numbers on one side and five on the other. Select orphelins on the racetrack (or from the Combined Bets option in the example above) to place this bet. Only one chip is needed for each of the five involved bets:

Numbers Bet type
Straight up
6, 9 Split
14, 17 Split
17, 20 Split
31, 34 Split

Interestingly, number 17 is covered twice in the orphelins bet!

Neighbours

First Person Lightning Roulette game with a neighbours of 36 bet highlighted

The neighbours bet in roulette involves a straight up bet on your number of choice, plus straight up bets on the two numbers immediately to the left and right of your chosen number on the Roulette wheel. To place this bet, simply click on your number of choice on the racetrack and the other four numbers will be selected automatically. That’s five chips for five straight up bets, all placed in one swift action!

Final

European Roulette Pro game highlighting a final 2 bet

Perhaps the most interesting of all Roulette exotic bets is the final, which covers all numbers ending in the number of your choice, eg. 0, 10, 20, 30. Depending on your chosen number, this bet will require three or four chips (because there are only three numbers ending in 7, 8 and 9), each of which is a straight up bet.

Though not technically one of the Roulette sectors bets, as these numbers don’t form a sector on the wheel, the final bet is still regarded as one. However, the way you place it may be different. In the image above, the final bet is listed alongside the other sections bets within the Special Bets menu. Some games may not offer this bet.

Enhance Your Game with Roulette Sector Bets

Roulette sections bets are a great way to escape the monotony of placing individual inside bets and try something exciting and new. Though the racetrack may seem a bit scary at first, once you understand it you’ll see how fun these unique bets are to try. With just a single click you can cover a whole swathe of the wheel without scrambling to place a series of individual bets before the time runs out!

FAQs

What is a section bet in Roulette?

A section bet is a collection of individual bets all grouped together according to a set section on the Roulette wheel. Each section has its own name and includes a specific set of numbers, eg. voisins du zéro, tiers du cylindre, etc. Section bets can usually be placed in a single action via the racetrack.

How are Roulette section bets placed?

In land-based casinos, Roulette sector bets are placed by verbal instruction to the dealer, which is why they are often referred to as call, called or announced bets. In Roulette online games, if sections bets are available, they are placed using the racetrack or selected from a list of special bets.

Are announced bets available in online Roulette?

Yes, Roulette sections bets are available in most online Roulette games, both RNG and live dealer. Look for the racetrack, or an option called Neighbours Bets or Special Bets and you’ll be able to place them from there.

What is the racetrack in Roulette?

The racetrack is a smaller version of the Roulette wheel in an oblong shape (kind of like a racetrack!) that’s usually printed somewhere on the table or accessible via a button in online games. Racetracks are designed to make placing sections bets easier as they highlight the different bets that are available and allow you to place them in a single click.

Is it worth playing Roulette call bets?

Roulette call bets are a way of adding a bit of variety to your game. While some people use them as part of their Roulette system, it’s wise to remember that these unique bets are really designed to make the betting process easier if you plan to cover a lot of numbers in one go.
